It Starts With Curiosity - Part 7

She finally brought herself to choose one of her suitors. News of her wedding plans went around fast. Her customers got angry and business fell apart.

She was raged and hated her family members. As for momma, she wished she could strangle her; the grip her supposed conscience previously had on her was no more.

The wedding ceremony went on well, after all money was not a problem. Her friends made fun of her and addressed her as Mrs. Some years after the marriage, there was no result; 'they' needed results. Everything was always about them, yet they pretended as if they were after her happiness. Liars! This new life was difficult for her; it was a bad dream which she really wanted to wake up from.

Her husband was running out of patience and there was so much pressure on him. She heard rumours that her husband would marry a second wife, but she did not care. Her friends arranged meetings between her and businessmen who were passing through the town. These businessmen did not know she was married and ofcourse, she never wore her ring to their meetings.

In the midst of all the ruckuses where her mother-in-law and her sisters-in-law drove her insane, she had time to sneak out or lie, so she could go to meetings. The tables turned and her friends took 10% of the money she got from the men. As if that was not enough, they suggested she charged minimal. In their eyes, she was a secondhand good.

More years passed by, still no child. She had thought she never wanted any of this. However, it began to bother her when people whispered and pointed fingers at her. Many doctors were suggested to her, but she knew the demons of her past had finally caught up with her. There was no running away; she couldn't escape this. It was a curse she had brought upon herself.
