Where My Heart Is - Part One

Seated on his clean-shaven face is a small nose, perfectly aligned in-between sparkling brown eyes. He is a tall and muscular man, with a charismatic appearance. He has pale, red lips and pointy ears. He's dressed in a black hooded long-sleeve sweatshirt, grey sweat shorts and black canvas sneakers.

On his left shoulder hangs a black Bertrand Duffel Bag and he seems to be listening to music with an in-ear headphone. As he drops the bag, he takes off the black hooded long-sleeve sweatshirt. He exposes a stretch cotton singlet, which hugs his delicate broad chest; his shoulders make a glorious sight. His smile is cozy and that is what makes my heart skip a beat.

I moved to Frare Town few months ago and I scouted the area for a gym, because I love to stay in shape. After futile efforts and just when I had almost given up, I was finally directed to 'Work It', which is about an hour's drive from my home. The stress of hopping from car to car before I got here, had began to wane on me.

Frare Town is an island surrounded by Chigua Sea. The water is violet in color and is believed to have healing powers. Indigenes of Frare Town, Frararians as they're called, believe that the Chigua Sea is the home of their god, Chigua.

History has it that, Chigua was formed by clouds and a heavy rainfall. The water didn't flow throughout the earth, but stood in one position. The center of the water where Chigua landed (after falling from the sky), became an Island, known today as Frare Town.

Any sick person sprinkled with water from the Chigua Sea becomes healed. Also, newborn babies are baptised in the Chigua Sea as a sign of dedicating them to god Chigua; this is believed to guide and protect them from spiritual attacks.

The main occupation in Frare Town is fishing. Both men and women are involved in fishing, as it is their major source of livelihood. People travel from far away places to buy fishes from Frare Town, because 5% of fishes in the Chigua Sea are made up of gold. Everyone always looks forward to catching a golden fish; however, this rarely happens.

Today is my first day at the gym, and I didn't bargain for this. I had made up my mind that I wouldn't return to 'Work It', because of its far away distance from my home. All I planned to do was work-out today and never return. I had hoped to get some gym equipments which I could use at home.

However, I can feel my heart and mind fighting. My mind says I should work-out today, leave and never return (that's the voice of common sense), but my heart says the exact opposite.
