AIDS And Aids

Your voice was like thunder, the children feared you. You knew how to fight for your right. But, you had a kind heart.

You used to buy things for me. I loved staying with you during the holidays. Above all, you knew how to pray.

When it was Aunty's wedding and the tailor said my dress wasn't ready, you rained brimstone on her. I got my dress that day.

Courageous and energetic, you were the man. Loved by all, and extremely intelligent. You were a teacher to the core.

Since you passed on, not a second, have I not thought of you. I can still hear the sound of your footsteps; you walked like a warrior.

Then, you fell sick. They said it was AIDS. I couldn't believe it. It shouldn't have been you. I was scared, but you hugged me.

It got serious day after each day. We hadn't known earlier. Who could have thought that you'd get AIDS?! After a while, it got worse.

You weren't evincing health, you were tinged by grief, and your handsomeness was gradually fading away.

You lost your elegant poise and balance. You were always tired and weak. You had a thoughtful and deepening aura.

I couldn't believe it. You weren't that kind of a man. This weak man wasn't you; I wanted you to speak and roar like a lion.

One day, I heard you were dead. I just stood there, dazed. I cried and prayed for a miracle, anything that would bring you back to life.

Each night, I wished that you would come to me in my dream; that you'd embrace me and say everything was going to be okay.

However, you never came. I dont know why, but, I forgive you. Wherever you are, I hope you read this; read this, and smile.

I take solace in the fact that you were too good for this evil world. Even in death, you remain my favourite uncle. I am living. I remember you.

A raid on AIDS will aid the world. Let's raid AIDS, not only in words. Let's wear rage and confine it to cages, so humanity will live through ages.

I pray hope for people living with AIDS, strength for all of their friends and families, and wisdom for those who search for a cure.
